About The Composer

Dylan Hou is a future-envisioning film music composer with a passion for fusing orchestral and electronic soundscapes. Expressing qualities from both popular and cinematic musical styles, Dylan’s music is becoming highly acclaimed for story-telling and translating emotions through on-screen media.

He currently studies Composition for Creative Industries at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, pursuing a career in music composition for films, documentaries, and video games. Although his first love was found in the studies of classical piano during his youth, he also found himself challenging tradition, translating to his passion for new and exciting music.

Dylan specialises in two contrasting musical worlds - sound design and orchestration. While this enables a wide musical reach, Dylan extends his musical aesthetic by combining these two opposing styles. He has studied orchestration and instrumentation at university, participated in choirs, and undergone ten years of classical piano tutelage. On the other hand, Dylan has also produced pop music (Dance the Night Away, ft. Red Roy), studied electroacoustic composition, and has been playing the keyboard for the global youth band ‘Hillsong’ since 2017. With his immersive studies of traditional and contemporary styles, Dylan has been praised for his innovation and musical explorations.

“Outstanding, inventive melding of acoustic and electroacoustic timbres to match and manipulate the movements of the images.”
